We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our busy Sheffield team. If you think you could undertake a wide range of tasks related to the design, implementation and delivery of Process Control and Safety solutions, principally in the Oil & Gas industry then we want to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

Designing, building and commissioning systems for Process Control and Safety
Support and long term maintenance of clients’ control and safety systems
Working in-house and on client sites
Undertake a wide range of tasks related to the design, implementation and delivery of Process Control and Safety solutions, principally in the Oil & Gas industry.
Work with clients to identify solutions appropriate to them
Produce Requirements Specifications and Design Specifications
Develop test strategies
Configure control systems (SCADA, PLC and Safety Controllers)
Investigate and resolve problems with control systems
Lead and provide technical guidance and co-ordination for your project team
Give clear, effective presentations to customers on status of their work
Operate in accordance with Company policies and procedures
Checking and approving of other engineers output.

What will you need to be successful in this role?

Degree in engineering with some relevant experience
Demonstrable technical leadership
Proficient in a range of PLC and SCADA products (including a selection from DeltaV, Siemens DCS/PCS7, Rockwell, Schneider, Hima, ABB, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, Cimplicity)
Proficient in functional safety and familiar with IEC 61508 (preferably TUV qualified)
Proficient in both hardware and software design
Familiar with project controls and owning budgets
Good knowledge and understanding of upstream oil and gas
Medically fit and certified to work offshore UKCS
Prepared to carry out engineering/commissioning for projects on client’s sites in UK, offshore and abroad
Can do attitude
Disciplined in working to time, within budgets and technical requirements.
Can balance multiple pieces of work and track each against deadlines to ensure that all are progressed in line with customers’ expectations
Good analytical and problem-solving ability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent presentation skills
Flexible, co-operative and enthusiastic attitude to work
Prepared to take lead on own initiative
Comfortable to lead meetings and discussions with customers
A motivated self-starter
Interested in continuous improvement and the Company’s development
Involves other people and encourages an exchange of ideas
Confident and calm under pressure
Not afraid to admit mistakes
Able to oversee a small team
Comfortable interacting with customers and able to instil confidence
Is able to take direction from senior colleagues and Partners
